About me

My name is Dylan VanDrimlen, I am 23, and new to the realm of international and domestic development and aid. I am a University graduate with a degree in Legal Studies, with coursework focusing on social justice issues and human rights, as well as a degree in Political science with a core concentration on international political economics. This past year I have embarked abroad volunteering in Israel/Palestine on Kibbutz and with local organisations whose missions revolve around conflict resolution and food/water security. In addition i was able to volunteer on farms in rural Germany within communities that have a high influx of refugees being resettled. I was also lucky enough to work with an organisation in Amsterdam that had a very interesting initiative on communal living, barter and exchange, and the value of human experience as currency in the market. This November, my girlfriend and I will be leaving for seven months to work with a few organisations in South America, the first of which is a local community group that operates an orphanage and outreach centre in Trujillo Peru. I am hoping to pursue a career in international development and will be furthering my education upon return from my next leg of travels. My hope is that this forum will allow me to garner more information about the field, the experiences, and knowledge about important topics and debates within the discipline.
